TIPS FOR EDUCATORS
- Access the free MKSAP Residency Program Tracker to monitor progress at both the program and individual level. Develop individualized assignments to provide targeted guidance and feedback.
- Flip the classroom! Assign a custom quiz or group of questions to your residents before a learning session and ask them to identify questions they struggled with or want to discuss in more detail at their session.
- Review residents’ responses to individual questions to identify potential learning gaps and areas of confusion on important content areas.
- Begin your resident report with a MKSAP question related to one of your cases to actively engage learners in the subject matter.
- Review residents’ performance data to identify areas for potential curricular adjustment.
- Assess completion of CORE badges to support achievement of medical knowledge milestones.
- Use MKSAP to update your own knowledge, earn CME credit and MOC points, and prepare for the 10-year ABIM MOC exam or Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment.
- Enjoy a discount on bulk purchases for your residents. Save 10% when you purchase 10 or more MKSAP programs.
- Encourage your residents to import missed IM-ITE educational objectives into their MKSAP digital learning plan.
Internal Medicine In-Training Examination® (IM-ITE®)
The IM-ITE is a rigorously-developed formative assessment to evaluate readiness for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Certification Exam. It’s administered annually during a prescribed examination window.
Evidence shows that the IM-ITE is the strongest known predictor of ABIM Certification Examination performance.1

TIPS FOR EDUCATORS
- Use the IM-ITE score reports to provide educational counseling to residents, develop curricula, and support planned curricular changes. View the percentage of questions answered correctly by each examinee and their percentile rank. Review each resident’s list of structured educational objectives associated with incorrectly answered questions to develop personalized learning plans.
- Register residents at all postgraduate training years to sit for the exam to improve test-taking skills and track learning progress longitudinally. Faculty can also participate to identify their own learning gaps.
- Residents with MKSAP subscriptions can import their missed IM-ITE educational objectives into their MKSAP digital learning plan.
